I teach private percussion lessons online, in person in Toronto, or in a hybrid arrangement. My goal is to enhance my students’ lives, not only as a teacher but as a mentor and friend. I work with students of all ages, from young children to adults, and tailor lessons to each student’s individual learning needs.
I teach marimba, vibraphone, snare drum, and timpani, with a focus on building strong foundations and developing good technique early in the learning process. Alongside this, I tailor lessons to each student’s goals and interests, which can include standard percussion repertoire, exam preparation, helping students prepare for ensemble parts (e.g., orchestral or chamber music), exploring student-composed pieces, and arranging music to suit their playing level or pieces they love.
I bring both professional and teaching experience to my lessons, having maintained a private studio since 2013 and served as Percussion Instructor at the Hong Kong Percussion Centre, as well as performing internationally as a percussionist. My approach is patient, encouraging, and adaptive to each student’s pace and learning style.
