KöNG Duo is a percussion duo I co-founded with percussionist Bevis Ng, dedicated to contemporary repertoire and collaborative, project-based work. Our practice centres on commissioning new works, re-contextualising under-performed repertoire, and developing programmes shaped by our shared musical background.
In 2022, we curated our début set good morning, hong kong during a residency at Banff Centre, which marked the beginning of an ongoing interest in creating performances that foreground place, memory, and listening. Since then, we have presented our work locally and internationally, including appearances at Music TORONTO’s Celebration of Small Ensembles series and the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in the United States.
Alongside performance, collaboration with emerging composers is central to our work, and we have premiered over fifteen new pieces to date. KöNG Duo was awarded First Prize at the 2023 Southern California Marimba International Artist Competition and was named Young Artistic Associates of Confluence Concerts for the 2023–2024 season. We proudly endorse Marimba One instruments.
I co-founded Space Between Production Co. to help bridge the gap between people’s dream projects and the practical realities of producing them. We work with a wide range of clients, from student recitals to newly formed ensembles, and tailor our support to the needs of each project.
Our work spans several areas, which can be offered individually or combined:
Concert management
Supporting projects from the ground up, including production planning, venue and instrument rental, and stage management.
Lighting
Concert lighting design to support the music and elevate the overall performance experience.
Archival recording
Professional audio-video recording for documentation or audition purposes, with options ranging from single-camera setups to multi-angle recordings.
I co-founded TO Mallets, a Toronto-based mallet-wrapping company focused on affordability and sustainability within the percussion community. By offering rewrapped mallets at a lower cost, we aim to extend the life of existing mallets and reduce reliance on expensive imported options in Canada.
We specialise in rewrapping keyboard percussion mallets using the BlueHaus mallet-wrapping machine, which allows for consistent wrapping tension and even, reliable results across mallets.
